Churchill Insurance had decided to change its traditional image of the company. They elected to go for CGI CGI-driven and more modern vision for the company.
The Winston Churchill-inspired bulldog insurance company, Churchill Insurance, is well known for its catchphrase “Ohh yes’;
This was first introduced into the company's advertisement in 1996, and originally featured the voice of the comedian Bob Mortimer.
The relaunch came about after audience research found that while Churchill was the ‘most-liked’ insurance brand, it was starting to “lose its edge”.
This produced a problem, given that most people start their journey to buying insurance on price comparison websites, where the price is the most important attribute.
“The brand is seen as dependable and reliable but lacks any real distinctiveness,” states Churchill’s head of marketing Lucy Brooksbank - tells Marketing Week.
“The market is cluttered and commoditized, so we need a modern and culturally relevant brand to ensure that we stand out from the crowd and gain that valuable click on a price comparison site.”
"Modernising Churchie was seen as key to that",
Brooksbank admits Churchill’s brand is “heavily reliant” on its mascot, but that he was starting to be seen as “dated and old-fashioned”.
“Our audience’s relationship with the brand is only skin deep, heavily reliant on the love of the dog, but even his star was starting to fade,” explains Brooksbank. “An updated Churchill the dog was key to modernizing the brand and remaining relevant.”

So, since October 2019, Churchill Insurance has killed off the 1996 vision of their company. And moving towards a new CGI-inspired bulldog character, which does not speak.
Churchill moved towards this new image and used a Media and Marketing company known as Engine Creative - TO CREATE IT ( which has now been acquired by the company called NEXT 15).
Below is the advertisement that was launched during the year 2019, which took the Insurance company of Churchill Insurance in a different direction in regards to its advertising.
The Churchill advertisement - Church "Chill" Advert 2019
The song that was used for this advertisement was:
Britney Stoney – O.D. - July 15, 2018
Initially, the move toward the New Churchill Dog icon (Advert) was met with huge disappointment.
Please see just one of the Twitter responses to the change, originally, when it was shown to the UK public
Today on Twitter, people are angry that #ChurchillTheDog is now a really well done CGI puppy and want an insurance company to stop doing whatever it wants pic.twitter.com/HIqNAkaueg

However, moving on 2 years from the last advert, comments have clearly now moved towards the positive side of things.
