Culture Club in 2014 THEY ARE BACK!

It's a Miracle - Culture Club are back

There is not a country in the world that doesn't know the names of Boy George and Culture Club.

On the year of 23rd September 1982 when Culture Club burst onto the world music scene with the single, that is - "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?". No one will ever forget them.

Everybody remembers that period and when seeing the Lead singer of Culture Club perform on the BBC's - TOP OF THE POPS music program/show (ENGLAND) - on 23rd September 1982. All we're asking themselves this one question.

Is this person a Man or a Woman? - which led to Boy George becoming the most talked about person in Britain - if not the World at the time.

Since that music single was released they went on to bigger and better things.

The Johnny Carson Interview with Boy George in 1984 is below.

However, personally one of the singles that impressed me at the height of their fame was this single - "It's a Miracle"- 1983  from the album Colours by Numbers.

Culture Club's music could be best described as a fusion between - British new wave, American soul, Jamaican reggae, and also other styles such as calypso, salsa, or country music.

Over time, many, including myself have stated that this was their favorite Culture Club track of all time.

It was the 5th single release from the group as a whole. The song was compiled by the group as a whole, but the lyrics were done by the man himself Boy George.
The vocals were provided by Boy George; and Helen Terry  who acted as a backup singer on the song (Who I have to say is a great singer in her own right)

"It's a Miracle" is a Pop/Soul/funk drenched single that has lasted the test of time, to be honest.

Right within the middle of the song is a great vocal solo done by session musician/vocalist that is - Helen Terry. Her vocals are even better than Boy George's.

The Song is bright and happy, and yet so soulful at the same time. Blue-eyed Soul at its best with a touch of pop added to the mix. Have a listen to it below.

Culture Club - Its a Miracle

It was within this period - 1981 to 1984  many within the music business have classed this period of music as the 2nd British music invasion of the USA And were Culture Club was right in the middle of it.

The band's debut albumKissing to Be Clever (reached Number 5 in the UK, and Number No 14 in the USA) was released in October 1982.

The follow-up single, "Time (Clock of the Heart)", became another Top 10 hit in the US (Number 2) and UK (Number 3).

"I'll Tumble 4 Ya" also became a Top Ten hit within the US (Number 9) and Canada.

This gave Culture Club the distinction of being the first group since The Beatles to have three Top Ten hits in America from a debut album - from the BOOK called The Million Sellers 2012 - copyright Onimbus Press.

Kissing to Be Clever sold over 1 million copies in the US, being certified platinum, and sold another two million worldwide at the time of its release.

Culture Club during their time has sold in excess of 100 million singles and over 50 million albums and was one of the biggest pop bands of the 1980s.

They achieved:
  1. Seven straight Top 10 hits in the UK,
  2. Nine Top 10 singles in the USA,
  3. Nine Top 20 singles in Australia.
  4. They are also Grammy Award Winners.
